Meet Shawna!

Writer: Rosa SnappRosa Snapp

Shawna Robison Young just released her debut Christian Romance novel this past February. Here’s what readers are saying about the Unsuspecting Heather Meyers:

"Be prepared for an emotional journey. Not only did I feel that I got to know every character, I also loved the sense of homecoming and redemption. Shawna delved into topics rarely discussed, but that many people face. As a nurse, I appreciate your ability to write about death, dying and hospice care. My heart melted over this love story. Excellent read."

"I really enjoyed this book. It had me on the first page wanting to read more. Lots of emotion and surprises. I recommend highly. A great read!!!!!"

"I’m a slow reader and I couldn’t put this book down! I finished it in 3 sittings. Very well written. The author pulls you in from page 1. I’m not a writer myself, so don’t have the words to express how good this story is. You will not be disappointed!"

"This is a well-written story of grace through love and struggles in life that continued to keep me on my toes throughout its entirety. This author is the real deal. Highly recommend!"

"I read this book in a day and a half. I wanted to get to know each and every character. The high and low points of their journey to forgiveness. I couldn't put this book down. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes to go on an emotional journey."

Every time I finish an amazing story, I have so many questions for the author. This time, I got to ask these questions. Check out Shawna's responses:

What should readers know about you as an author?

I love a bit of the unusual and I write about the unexpected stories of life and love. I want to draw a reader in with twists and turns that take her/ him on a journey she/ he can’t put down.

How long have you wanted to be an author?

I’ve loved writing since I was a little girl. I’d read my stories to my brother, but I never thought of anyone else wanting to hear them until I was older, married with three children (now four), and a preschool business to run. Getting from a manuscript to a published book has been a slow process for me, but I’m so excited to have released my debut novel, The Unsuspecting Heather Meyers, late February of 2020.

What inspired Heather’s character in the Unsuspecting Heather Myers?

I was in physical therapy for shoulder pain and as always my mind was wandering and imagining made up characters while I laid relaxed on the table. I began wondering what if a woman came to receive treatment and she discovers her old high school flame is her physical therapist. How would she react? Would she stay? Run out the door? What would make her have to continue treatment with the PT even though he’d broken her heart in the past?

The cover of your book states, “A Redemptive Love Story.”

What’s the main message you want readers to receive from reading your story? I want the reader to take away that we are more than our past mistakes and that redemption can be found in the most unlikely journey and friendships.

Do you plan on writing any more books similar to this one?

I hadn’t. I thought this was a stand-alone, but as I continued to write the book, little ideas would come on how I could write other stories that could be in a series with The Unsuspecting Heather Meyers. I do have an idea for the next book in the Redemptive Love Story series and I hope to release it sometime in 2021.
